About The Position

Iroquois Memorial Hospital is a 25-bed hospital in Watseka, Illinois, dedicated to providing high-quality healthcare services, including an Emergency Room, OR suites, inpatient care, therapy, advanced medical imaging, Home Health, and Hospice Care. The hospital also operates rural health clinics and a skilled nursing facility. At IMH, the patient is central to everything, and the hospital strives for excellence, fostering an environment where providers and employees deliver the best healthcare. The Patient Care Technician performs reception, clerical, and secretarial duties, serving as the primary communication source in the Progressive Care Unit. This role involves close collaboration with management, staff, families, physicians, and visitors, and is responsible for maintaining a ready, stocked, organized, and clean department, while also assisting nurses in providing patient care.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Possesses a service orientation.
  • Able to take vital signs.
  • BLS certification.
  • Passes EKG testing yearly.

Responsibilities

  • Performs reception, clerical & secretarial duties.
  • Functions as the focal communication source in the work station.
  • Works closely with management, staff, families, physicians, other employees, and visitors.
  • Assists to maintain the department in a constant state of readiness.
  • Assists to maintain an adequately stocked, well organized and clean department.
  • Assists the nurses in providing the best care for patients.
  • Communicates with peers, other health team members, patients and visitors.
  • Adapts and is flexible, performing multiple tasks and self-starting with minimal direction from nursing staff.
  • Utilizes AIDET.
  • Resolves problems and adapts easily to change.
  • Maintains positive working relationships and avoids negativity.
  • Utilizes down time productively or in a way that benefits the patient.
  • Avoids waste; utilizes equipment and supplies effectively.
  • Uses computer for only purposes as assigned.
  • Maintains the current medical record and database.
  • Maintains up to date manuals/books.
  • Operates various office equipment.
