About The Position

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) position is within the Medical University Hospital Authority (MUHA) at CHS - ART 3West Acute Cardiology (ART). The PCT reports to the Nurse Manager and works under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. In this role, the PCT performs multi-skilled activities to support a decentralized patient-centered approach to patient care and achieve desired outcomes. The position involves 3 12-hour rotating shifts per week, including weekends and holidays, and is an hourly employee position.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required (for Patient Care Technician I)
  • High school diploma/GED and ONE of the following requirements must be met (for Patient Care Technician II): Associate or Bachelor's degree
  • High school diploma/GED and ONE of the following requirements must be met (for Patient Care Technician II): At least 1 year work experience in a .6 FTE PCT I position at MUSC CHS
  • High school diploma/GED and ONE of the following requirements must be met (for Patient Care Technician II): 1 year of experience in a healthcare facility
  • High school diploma/GED and ONE of the following requirements must be met (for Patient Care Technician II): Active enrollment in nursing school with completion of Nursing Fundamentals from an accredited institution
  • High school diploma/GED and ONE of the following requirements must be met (for Patient Care Technician II): Active enrollment in a healthcare related field from an accredited institution
  • High school diploma/GED and ONE of the following requirements must be met (for Patient Care Technician II): Certified Nursing Assistant or Certified Medical Assistant Certification from an accredited institution
  • Basic Life Support required within 2 weeks of hire
  • Must maintain Current Basic Life Support (BLS), either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider
