About The Position

DaVita is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) to join their team in an outpatient dialysis center. This role offers the opportunity to make a significant difference in the lives of patients and their families dealing with end-stage renal failure or chronic kidney disease by providing empathetic and compassionate care. No prior dialysis experience is required, as DaVita provides paid, extensive training to equip individuals with the necessary skills. Upon successful completion of training, the PCT will join a holistic team of care professionals, including nurses, dietitians, social workers, and experienced PCTs. The position is described as a career based on passion and purpose, offering a jump start into the healthcare field. Training may occur at a facility or a dedicated training clinic, potentially different from the assigned home clinic. PCTs should be prepared for potential floating to various clinics during and after training and must have a flexible schedule to accommodate mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements

  • Desire to enter the health care field to care for other people in need
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be comfortable working around blood and needles
  • Must be comfortable mixing acid or bicarb
  • Physical and mental ability to work long hours (some shifts are 12+ hours) on your feet
  • Willingness to train and work across multiple clinics within the territory as needed

Nice To Haves

  • Health care experience (e.g., BONENT Certified, Certified Hemodialysis Technician (CHT), Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), or Phlebotomy certification)

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct one-on-one patient care to ensure safe, comfortable, and hygienic dialysis treatment for multiple patients.
  • Monitor patients before, during, and after dialysis treatment, including measuring and recording vital statistics, making patient observations, and setting up hemodialysis machines.
  • Build long-term relationships with patients receiving treatment an average of 3 times per week.
  • Educate patients on Kidney Dialysis related topics.
