About The Position

The Patient Care Technician position at Evanston Hospital involves working under the supervision of a Registered Nurse to deliver patient care. Responsibilities include assisting with vital signs, performing 12-Lead EKGs, bladder ultrasounds, Foley catheter and IV adapter removal, sterile specimen collection, bathing, ambulating, turning, hourly rounding, blood glucose monitoring, feeding, admitting patients to rooms, preparing patients for discharge, and other duties as delegated by the RN. The role also includes participating in activities essential to the functioning of the patient care unit and contributing positively to safety outcomes and high-quality patient experiences.

Requirements

• Eligible to work in the U.S.
• Completion of an accredited certified nursing assistant (C.N.A.) training course preferred, or completion of at least one nursing clinical rotation in medical or surgical preferred
• Current BLS certification for Healthcare Provider issued by either American Heart Association, or required to obtain within the employee's introductory period (within 90 days of hire date)
• Minimum 2 years Patient Care Technician experience

Responsibilities

• Work under the supervision of a RN to deliver patient care
• Assist with Vital Signs (includes manual blood pressure), 12-Lead EKG, Bladder Ultrasound, Foley catheter and IV adapter removal, sterile specimen collection
• Perform bathing, ambulating, turning, hourly rounding, blood glucose monitoring, feeding, and admitting patients to rooms
• Prepare patients for discharge and perform any other duties delegated by the Registered Nurse
• Assist with the implementation of a patient specific care plan
• Participate in other activities essential to the functioning of the patient care unit
• Contribute positively to safety outcomes and promote high quality patient experience
