About The Position

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit at Stormont-Vail HealthCare plays a vital role in providing perioperative nursing care to patients undergoing surgical procedures. This position involves assisting Registered Nurses in delivering direct patient care, monitoring patient conditions, and ensuring a safe environment for patients. The PCT is responsible for implementing care plans, communicating patient information, and participating in educational activities to enhance departmental efficiency and patient satisfaction.

Requirements

• Successfully completed the first semester in an accredited nursing program or a medical assistant/patient care technician program.
• Active certification as an EMT or CNA in Kansas is required as a substitute for educational qualifications.
• Experience in an office or clinic setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists with activities of daily living (ADLs) for patients.
• Implements care plans in coordination with the interdisciplinary care team.
• Communicates pertinent patient data to appropriate staff in a timely manner.
• Promotes infection prevention through standard precautions and cleanliness.
• Obtains and records vital signs, weight, and height, reporting changes to the assigned nurse.
• Prepares and processes requisitions for housekeeping and supply needs.
• Participates in departmental committee activities and attends mandatory meetings.
• Performs point of care testing and/or phlebotomy as required.
