About The Position

The position functions as part of the hemodialysis healthcare team, providing safe and effective dialysis therapy for assigned patients in compliance with FMCNA policies and regulations. The role involves direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, ensuring quality patient outcomes and participation in quality improvement activities.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required.
  • 1 - 2 years' related experience.
  • Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Certification (CCHT) certification.

Responsibilities

  • Provide patient care under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse.
  • Report and document all new and unusual incidents, information, complaints, or problems to the RN.
  • Promote and assist in maintaining a safe and clean working environment.
  • Support the FMCNA commitment to the Quality Enhancement Program (QEP) and Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement (QAI) activities.
  • Welcome assigned patients and inquire about their well-being since their last treatment.
  • Evaluate vascular access for patency and report any unusual findings to the RN.
  • Obtain necessary pre and post-treatment vital signs and weight, reporting unusual findings to the RN.
  • Perform vascular access cannulation and report any difficulties or unusual findings to the RN.
  • Calculate and enter individual patients' dialysis machine programming as prescribed.
  • Ensure appropriate safety alarms are enabled on the dialysis machine.
  • Record accurate and timely information regarding vital signs and treatment parameters.
  • Initiate renal replacement treatment according to prescribed orders.
  • Collect, label specimens, and ensure timely delivery to the laboratory.
  • Monitor patient's response to dialysis therapy and report any unusual findings to the RN.
  • Discontinue dialysis treatment according to established procedures and evaluate the patient prior to termination of venous access.
