About The Position

0.6 FTE (48 hours per pay period ); Straight Night & every third weekend . PCT position for Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at the main St. Paul location. Pediatric healthcare experience preferre d. Purpose of position: This position provides both clerical support and patient care responsibilities. Clerical support is provided to the nursing departments through coordination of communication, transcription of provider orders, and maintenance of unit supplies. Patient care is provided by assisting the professional nurse in meeting basic activity of daily living (ADL) needs of the patient while maintaining an orderly and safe physical environment as well as venipuncture, IV starts, assisting with medical procedures. Compensation & Benefits: The hourly wage for this opportunity is $21.00/hour to $31.13/hour, with a median wage of $25.94/hour. Pay is dependent on several factors including relevant work experience, education, certification & licensure, and internal equity. Hourly pay is just one part of the compensation package for employees. Shift differentials of $1.50/hour for nights, and $1.25/hour for weekends are available for this position. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • Current CPR certification (BLS for Healthcare Providers by the American Heart Association) is required. If candidate holds valid CPR for Healthcare providers through another acceptable organization (as determined by Gillette), candidate may be able to begin employment but must complete CPR BLS for Healthcare Providers by the American Heart Association within one month of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Health care experience preferred: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic, Military Medical Training or Phlebotomy certification.
  • Knowledge of venipuncture, IV starts, prior experience assisting with medical procedures.
  • Ability to transcribe physician orders, knowledge of medical terminology and its application.
  • Pediatric experience - interest in working with children, adolescents with disabilities, and their families.
  • Demonstrates skill in interpersonal communication as related to patient, family, co-workers, physicians, and others.
  • Physically able to work hours required and transport/transfer patients.
  • Potential exposure to infectious disease and hazardous substances.
