Patient Care Technician (PCT) - 12 Reisman, Med/Surg (Full Time)
About The Position
When you join the growing BILH team, you're not just taking a job, you’re making a difference in people’s lives. This is a full-time position, 36 hours per week. Rotating shifts (alternating 2 weeks of days, 2 weeks of nights), every other weekend rotation, and holiday rotation required. Three 12-hour shifts available, or a mix of 8-, 9- and 12-hour shifts depending on individual availability. 12 Reisman is a 44 bed inpatient surgery floor caring for a diverse population of surgical patients. The floor serves as the primary unit for the post-op care of patients undergoing colorectal surgery, ENT surgery, Plastic surgery, and Breast surgery. Requirements
- High School diploma or GED required.
- 0-1 years related work experience required.
- Patient care experience strongly preferred through any of the following areas: CNA (or LNA), MA, ED Tech, EMT, PCT certificate or currently enrolled nursing student who has completed at least one clinical rotation.
- Completion of BIDMC in-house training program.
- Allied Health, Pre-Med, and Physician Assistant program candidates.
- Home Health Aide.
- Basic familiarity with computers.
- Ability to navigate at a basic level within web-based applications.
Responsibilities
- Collaborates with a registered nurse on developing a patient's care plan.
- Develops and maintains competencies as delegated by a registered nurse, including sterile dressing changes.
- Maintains the safety of patients who have been identified at risk for preventable injury by the implementation of nursing safety interventions or the use of protective devices/equipment under the supervision of the registered nurse.
- Reports all patient activity to the registered nurse in a timely manner.
