The Float Position also emphasizes the importance of maintaining a clean and safe working environment, supporting the organization's commitment to the Quality Enhancement Program (QEP) and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities. This includes actively participating in process improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing patient satisfaction and achieving organizational quality goals. In this role, the individual will assist healthcare team members in providing patient-specific education regarding dialysis adequacy measures and disease processes. Responsibilities include welcoming patients, evaluating vascular access, performing cannulation, administering heparin, and monitoring patients' responses to dialysis therapy. The Float Position requires accurate documentation of treatment parameters, vital signs, and any significant changes in patient conditions, which must be reported to the registered nurse or supervisor. The individual will also be responsible for ensuring the safety of dialysis machines, conducting machine safety checks, and maintaining infection control practices. The position involves working closely with newly admitted patients, coordinating their transitional dialysis care, and reinforcing education related to home dialysis options. The Float Position requires a commitment to continuous quality improvement and adherence to infection control policies. The physical demands of the job include heavy lifting, prolonged standing, and the ability to assist patients with ambulation.
