About The Position

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) at Memorial Regional Medical Center is responsible for providing basic health care and support to patients under the guidance of a Registered Nurse or designated healthcare professional. This role involves sanitizing and cleaning patients’ rooms, monitoring patients’ health and vital signs, and assisting patients with basic needs such as feeding and grooming. The PCT works in a team environment, sharing common values and extending care to all communities.

Requirements

• BLS Basic Life Support (preferred upon hire, must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care).
• Successful completion of nursing aide training program OR successful passing of STNA State Tested Nurse Aide OR CNA Certified Nurse Aide OR completion of a nursing program with one clinical nursing course and one clinical rotation OR 1 year of relevant experience in a clinical setting.

Nice To Haves

• Recent experience in acute care, physician's office, home health/hospice, or long-term care facility (preferred).
• EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) training (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Provides basic patient care including comfort, vital sign measurement, personal care and hygiene, and assists with mobility.
• Acts as a liaison between patient and nurse to report changes and/or concerns.
• Delivers high-level customer service to patients, families, visitors, and employees.
• Documents patient care accurately, precisely, and timely when applicable.
• Participates in hand-off/report of pertinent information regarding patient and departmental needs.
• Performs delegated tasks once competency has been validated.
• Mobilizes patients using therapeutic transfer techniques to foster independence and safety.
• Encourages patients to complete tasks as independently as possible.
• Individualizes care based on patient's interests and hobbies.
