About The Position

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) at Emory Healthcare plays a crucial role in providing high-quality patient care and ensuring safety in a hospital setting. This full-time position involves working under the supervision of Registered Nurses and LPNs, performing various patient care and observation duties, and maintaining a clean and healthy work environment. The PCT is responsible for assisting with patient procedures, operating clinical equipment, and supporting emergency situations, all while adhering to safety and infection control standards.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
• BLS certification required.
• One year of direct patient care experience, or
• Successful completion of a nursing assistant training course, or
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license through the State of Georgia, or
• Current enrollment in a nursing program with completion of 2 clinical rotations.

Responsibilities

• Perform assigned patient care and observation duties under the direction of a Registered Nurse and/or LPN.
• Clean the patient's room and maintain hospital and unit-specific competencies.
• Assist in emergency situations as directed by an RN/LPN.
• Ensure prescribed measures related to hygiene, comfort, and rest are provided.
• Comply with Standard Precautions guidelines and Infection Control procedures.
• Assist in the use of various medical equipment such as bag-valve-mask devices, oxygen, and suction equipment.
• Operate clinical tools including lifts, scales, beds, stretchers, and non-invasive BP monitors.
