About The Position

The OB/GYN Patient Care Technician or Medical Assistant will provide patient-centered care and assignments for patients under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the clinic. Tasks that are delegated to the PCT or MA may include: The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides proficient, compassionate, and professional patient-centered care by effectively communicating with patients, co-workers, and providers. Provides patient care support as delegated by Provider or Registered Nurse (RN). Demonstrates knowledge of available resources within Lake Region Healthcare and the broader community to support comprehensive patient care. The LPN practices in accordance with the Minnesota Nurse Practice Act, professional nursing standards, and LRHC policies and procedures. This role requires sound clinical judgment, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively to ensure safe, comprehensive, and compassionate patient care.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED).
  • Understanding of healthcare, anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and medical equipment and supplies.
  • Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certification.
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
  • Current Healthcare Provider level CPR certification upon hire or must be obtained within six months.
  • Successful completion of the pre-employment health screening.
  • Reliable attendance and ability to work at the clinic site as scheduled, including travel to other clinic sites.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
  • Performs delegated clinical and administrative tasks under the supervision of a licensed provider or nurse in accordance with established protocols, competencies, and organizational policies.
  • Verified completion of an MA diploma/program with proof of current certification as an MA if certification received from the diploma/program.
  • Current Minnesota LPN Licensure
  • Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing.
  • Ability to perform within the nursing scope of practice.
  • Performs nursing care under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse, advanced practice registered nurse, or provider, consistent with the LPN scope of practice defined by the Minnesota Board of Nursing.

Responsibilities

  • Recording vital statistics and other basic data collection
  • Administer basic health care and medical treatments
  • Select point of care testing and/or collection of non-invasive specimen collection
  • Clean and stock treatment and/or exam rooms
  • Prepare patient treatment areas for use
  • Prepare and clean medical equipment
  • Perform clerical work related to scheduling and documenting patient healthcare
