About The Position

Bon Secours is a network dedicated to providing excellent care through exceptional people. The Patient Care Technician (PCT) at Memorial Regional Medical Center works in the Multi-Specialty Telemetry Unit, providing basic health care and support to patients under the guidance of a Registered Nurse or designated healthcare professional. This full-time position requires working nights (3 shifts of 12 hours each, from 7 PM to 7 AM), including every other weekend and rotating holidays.

Requirements

• BLS Basic Life Support certification (preferred upon hire, must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care).
• Successful completion of nursing aide training program or passing of STNA, CNA, or completion of a nursing program with clinical experience.

Nice To Haves

• Recent experience in acute care, physician's office, home health/hospice, or long-term care facility (preferred).
• EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) training (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Provides basic patient care including comfort, vital sign measurement, personal care and hygiene, and assists with mobility.
• Acts as a liaison between patient and nurse to report changes and/or concerns.
• Provides high-level customer service to patients, families, visitors, and employees.
• Documents patient care accurately, precisely, and timely when applicable.
• Participates in hand-off/report of pertinent information regarding patient and departmental needs.
• Performs delegated tasks once competency has been validated.
• Mobilizes patients using therapeutic transfer techniques to foster independence and safety.
• Encourages patients to complete tasks as independently as possible.
• Individualizes care based on patient's interests and hobbies.
