About The Position

Emory Healthcare is seeking a Patient Care Technician for Emory Saint Joseph's Hospital. This position is responsible for being a capable certified technician who cares about the quality of their work and ensuring the safety for all patients. The role involves performing assigned patient care and observation duties under the direction of a Registered Nurse and/or LPN, including cleaning the patient's room, operating various clinical equipment, assisting with emergencies, and collecting and transporting patient specimens. The technician will also maintain hospital and unit-specific competencies and comply with safety standards to promote a clean and healthy work environment.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent, preferred.
  • BLS required.
  • One year of direct patient care experience, or successful completion of a nursing assistant training course, or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license through State of Georgia, or current enrollment in a nursing program with completion of 2 clinical rotations.

Responsibilities

  • Performs assigned patient care and observation duties under the direction of a Registered Nurse and/or LPN.
  • Cleans the patient's room and operates various clinical equipment.
  • Helps with emergencies and assists with patient procedures.
  • Collects and transports patient specimens and completes applicable forms.
  • Maintains hospital and unit-specific competencies.
  • Assists in emergency situations as directed by an RN/LPN.
  • Ensures that prescribed measures related to hygiene, comfort, and rest are provided.
  • Complies with Standard Precautions guidelines, Infection Control procedures, and safety standards.
  • Assists in the use of medical equipment such as bag-valve-mask devices, oxygen, and suction equipment.
  • Operates various patient care equipment including lifts, scales, and non-invasive BP monitors.
