Requirements

• A high school diploma or equivalent.
• BLS required.
• One year of direct patient care experience, or successful completion of a nursing assistant training course, or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license through State of Georgia, or current enrollment in a nursing program and completion of 2 clinical rotations.

Responsibilities

• Performs assigned patient care and observation duties under the direction of a Registered Nurse and/or LPN.
• Cleans the patient's room and operates various clinical equipment.
• Helps with emergencies and assists with patient procedures.
• Collects and transports patient specimens and completes applicable forms.
• Maintains hospital and unit-specific competencies.
• Assists in emergency situations as directed by an RN/LPN.
• Ensures that prescribed measures related to hygiene, comfort, and rest are provided.
• Complies with Standard Precautions guidelines, Infection Control procedures, and safety standards.
• Assists in the use of medical devices such as bag-valve-mask device, anti-embolism stockings, pneumatic compression stockings, oxygen, suction equipment, incentive spirometer, emergency cart and bedside glucose monitoring machine.
• Operates converter chair, lifts, scales, beds, stretchers, wheelchairs, non-invasive BP monitors, automatic thermometer, sphygmomanometer, pulse oximeter, and computers.
