About The Position

The Patient Care Tech (PCT) position is a per diem role in the Acute Behavioral Health Emergency Crisis unit at The Hospital of Central Connecticut. This role is crucial in providing both direct and indirect patient care activities, ensuring a safe and efficient care environment. The PCT will work under the supervision of a Nurse Leader and will be responsible for performing specific duties that support patient care. This includes selected interventions and activities that contribute to comprehensive care for patients, adhering to all regulatory and hospital standards, policies, and procedures. The position requires flexibility in scheduling and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a high activity work environment. There are additional responsibilities and career advancement opportunities available through a clinical ladder for Patient Care Techs based on experience, skillsets, and certifications held.

Requirements

  • No experience required, training provided on-site.
  • Successful completion of PCT specific HHC orientation.
  • Certified BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 2 Months (60 days) of hire date or job transfer date.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Some relevant experience in an acute care hospital environment.
  • Current certified BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Certification as a CNA, CPCT/A, EMT or CMA to be eligible for advancement in the PCT clinical ladder.
