About The Position

The Patient Care Technician at Emory Healthcare plays a crucial role in providing quality care and ensuring patient safety in a rehabilitation hospital setting. This part-time position involves working under the supervision of registered nurses and licensed practical nurses to perform various patient care tasks, maintain hygiene standards, and assist in emergency situations. The role is integral to the overall patient experience and contributes to a supportive healthcare environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
  • BLS certification required.
  • One year of direct patient care experience, or
  • Successful completion of a nursing assistant training course, or
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license through the State of Georgia, or
  • Current enrollment in a nursing program with completion of 2 clinical rotations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform assigned patient care and observation duties under the direction of a Registered Nurse and/or LPN.
  • Clean the patient's room and operate various clinical equipment.
  • Assist with emergencies and patient procedures.
  • Collect and transport patient specimens and complete applicable forms.
  • Maintain hospital and unit-specific competencies.
  • Ensure prescribed measures related to hygiene, comfort, and rest are provided.
  • Comply with Standard Precautions guidelines, Infection Control procedures, and safety standards.
  • Assist in the use of medical equipment such as bag-valve-mask devices, oxygen, and suction equipment.
  • Operate various patient care tools including lifts, scales, and non-invasive BP monitors.
