UPMC is seeking a dedicated Patient Care Technician (PCT) to support the 5E Oncology/Stroke Unit. This role offers a fast‑paced clinical environment with rotating shifts and a strong interdisciplinary team. Schedule Rotating days, nights, weekends, and holidays Shifts: 6:00 AM–6:30 PM or 6:00 PM–6:30 AM Two 12‑hour shifts per week Responsibilities Provide direct patient care including ADLs, mobility assistance, and patient transport. Perform core nursing assistant duties: vital signs, blood glucose, I&O, weights, specimen collection, Foley care, and telemetry application. Support therapies and report changes in patient condition to the RN. Complete at least four of the following: phlebotomy, 12‑lead EKG, simple dressings, Foley removal, point‑of‑care testing, bladder scan, straight catheterization, or IV catheter removal. Participate in unit activities such as answering call lights, phones, and passing meal trays. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the care team. Document care per established procedures and support clerical tasks as needed. Maintain a safe environment and adhere to all hospital policies. Engage in professional development and seek feedback to improve performance. High school diploma or GED AND one of the following: 1 year of general healthcare experience OR 6 months as a UPMC CNA/Nursing Assistant with PCT competency within 120 days OR enrollment in PT/OT/PA or related healthcare program with one clinical rotation completed OR bachelor’s degree in a health sciences field Required Training UPMC PCT class eRecord training Preferred EMT or Paramedic certification, or enrollment in an EMT/Paramedic program Strong PCT skillset preferred Experience or interest in oncology and stroke care preferred Title Flexibility This position can be upgraded or downgraded in title based on the skillset of the candidate.
