About The Position
Sentara Albemarle Medical Center is hiring a Patient Care Tech (PCT) for the Medical Telemetry Unit. Patient Care Technicians are unlicensed staff members who are accountable to, and work under the direct supervision of a professional nurse to implement delegated aspects of nursing care. Provide patient care, support the admissions and discharge process, and comply with patient safety practices under the direction of the professional nurse. Observe patients' physical, mental, and emotional conditions and report any change to the nursing. This M/S unit is a 24-bed unit with adult, geriatric, adolescent patient population. Medical or GYN overflow patients are cared for on this Medical/Surgical Unit. The variety of cases seen include abdominal, endoscopic, ENT, general, gynecologic, ophthalmic, orthopedic, thoracic, urologic, vascular, and plastic surgeries. Medical patients are admitted with CHF, pneumonia, COPD, sepsis, atrial fib and chest pain.
