About The Position

The Patient Care Technician at Methodist Hospital provides basic nursing care under the direct supervision of a Nurse, focusing on the personal and comfort needs of patients. The position offers on-the-job training and does not require prior experience. Various units are available including General & Women's Surgery, Intensive Care Unit, Maternity, Medical/Respiratory, Medical/Surgical, Pediatrics, Oncology, and South 3 Observation. Shifts available include full-time and part-time options with differentials for evening and weekend shifts.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 16 years old (some positions may require at least 18 years old).
  • Successful completion and documentation of CNA Certification preferred, Basic CNA Course or EMT-B Certification.
  • Valid Driver's License when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.
  • Must possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtain within three months from date of hire.
  • Comprehensive on-the-job training provided — no prior experience necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Contributes toward accomplishment of patient’s Plan of Care goals by providing care activities as assigned by the nurse.
  • Demonstrates competence in the implementation/administration of age appropriate care in accordance with established Practice Guidelines, Policies/Procedures and State/Federal Law.
  • Completes documentation to assure an accurate legal record of patient’s care.
  • Promotes, monitors and maintains a safe clean environment by assisting with identifying safety needs of patients.
  • Performs light housekeeping functions to maintain a clean, neat and orderly work/patient care area.
  • Contributes effectively to the communication needs of the department by acknowledging patients, healthcare providers and visitors.
