The Patient Care Technician is responsible for performing routine patient activities and delegated patient care procedures of a specialized and technical nature under the supervision of a nurse, taking into consideration the developmental needs of the patient. This includes assisting patients with changing/dressing, transporting patients by stretcher, bed, or wheelchair, identifying abnormal findings that could adversely affect surgical and patient outcomes, and reporting all abnormal findings to the appropriate nursing staff. The technician will also escort patients to holding rooms, assist with patient changing and removal of belongings such as jewelry, dentures, and contact lenses, verify patient information, orient patients and families to the environment, and obtain vital signs.
