About The Position

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) role in the Emergency Department at Mercy involves assisting in the individualized care of patients under the direction of registered nurses (RNs) or licensed practical nurses (LPNs). The position focuses on achieving the highest level of wellness for patients through compassionate care and teamwork. The PCT will perform clinical procedures and non-clinical support tasks essential for patient care, while also participating in a comprehensive training program that provides valuable skills and credentials.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. required.
  • CNA/CPTC certification or enrollment in a healthcare career program preferred.
  • No previous experience required; training will be provided by Mercy.
  • BLS certification required within one month of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the individualized care of patients to achieve their highest level of wellness.
  • Work cooperatively with team members to recognize the importance of group goals.
  • Perform designated clinical procedures and non-clinical support tasks essential to patient care.
  • Complete the required 175-hour training program as part of the new hire orientation process.
  • Achieve completion of PCA competencies within 3 months of hire.
