About The Position

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) position at Glenbrook Hospital is a part-time role focused on providing essential patient care under the supervision of Registered Nurses (RNs) or Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs). In this position, the PCT will engage in direct interactions with patients and visitors, responding to call lights, assisting with inquiries, and performing purposeful hourly rounding on assigned patients. The role also involves safe patient handling, which includes assisting in the ambulation and repositioning of patients using appropriate equipment. Basic nursing care tasks such as bathing, grooming, and assisting with personal care needs are integral to the PCT's responsibilities, all performed under the guidance of nursing staff. The PCT will assist with patient admissions, discharges, and transfers, ensuring a smooth transition for patients entering or leaving the unit. This includes room setup, orientation for new patients, and safe transportation within the hospital. Additionally, the PCT is responsible for accurately documenting patient care activities, including vital signs and intake/output measurements, and performing basic procedures like ECGs and wound care under supervision. The role may also require the PCT to act as a care companion or observer for patients needing additional safety measures. Indirect patient care activities, such as restocking supplies and maintaining records, are also part of the PCT's duties.
