About The Position

The Patient Care Technician position is located in Evanston, IL, and is a full-time role requiring 36 hours per week. The working hours are from 0700 to 1530, including a weekend rotation. The technician will float to all units throughout Evanston Hospital as needed. The role involves working under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) to deliver patient care on the Antepartum unit, assisting with various tasks such as vital signs, EKGs, specimen collection, and patient mobility.

Requirements

• Completion of an accredited certified nursing assistant (CNA) training course preferred.
• Completion of at least one nursing clinical rotation in medical or surgical nursing preferred.
• Current BLS certification for the Healthcare Provider issued by American Heart Association.
• Inpatient PCT or maternal child health experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work under the supervision of a RN to deliver patient care on the Antepartum unit.
• Assist with Vital Signs, including manual blood pressure, 12-Lead EKG, Bladder Ultrasound, Foley catheter and IV adapter removal, sterile specimen collection, bathing, beds, ambulating, turning, hourly rounding, blood glucose, feeding, admitting patients to room, preparing patients for discharge, and any other duties delegated by the Registered Nurse.
• Assist with the implementation of a patient-specific care plan.
• Participate in other activities essential to the functioning of the patient care unit.
