About The Position

Geisinger is proud to offer a Patient Care Technician a $1500 sign on bonus for eligible candidates, $18.94 minimum hiring rate with increased rates for experienced individuals and up to $3 shift differentials for evening, nights, and weekend shifts! Also offering up to $40,000 in financial support to become a nurse! The ACE Nursing Model of Care utilizes more Patient Care Technician staff to take responsibility for and perform the duties that do not require a nursing license, freeing the licensed nurse to perform the advanced skills that align with nursing education and training. This new model of care allows Patient Care Technicians more opportunity for career advancement, autonomy in their role, and greater involvement in the delivery of patient care.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)
  • Basic Life Support Certification within 6 months
  • No experience needed; comprehensive on-the-job training provided

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a healthcare setting
  • Certification as a Nursing Assistant or similar

Responsibilities

  • Being the primary facilitator of ADLs: hygiene, toileting, mobility, meals
  • Collecting vital signs & daily weights
  • Conducting Point of Care testing
  • Turning & repositioning patients
  • Performing equipment checks & exchanges
  • Providing patient care as directed, within the nursing assistant scope of practice
  • Performing venipunctures and skin punctures to obtain blood specimens
  • Assisting with transporting non-controlled medications and blood products
  • Performing clerical duties for admissions, transfers, discharges, and deaths
  • Scheduling tests and coordinating patient transportation
  • Participating in obtaining and communicating electronic information as pertinent to the nursing unit
