About The Position

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) reports to the Nurse Manager. Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, the PCT performs multi-skilled activities to support a decentralized patient-centered approach to patient care and achieve desired outcomes. The PCT is responsible for providing care to patients in the surgical oncology unit, ensuring that all tasks are performed efficiently and effectively to support the nursing staff and enhance patient care.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • For Patient Care Technician II: 24 hours/week or greater and one of the following: Associate or Bachelor's degree, 1 year of experience in a healthcare facility, active enrollment in nursing school with completion of Nursing Fundamentals, or certification as a Nursing Assistant or Medical Assistant.
  • Basic Life Support certification required within 2 weeks of hire.

  • Experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Certification as a Nursing Assistant or Medical Assistant.
  • Active enrollment in a healthcare-related field.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Registered Nurses in providing patient care.

  • Assist with patient mobility and transfers.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and healthcare team members.
  • Participate in patient care planning and implementation.
