About The Position

The role of the Certified Patient Care Technician reports to the Nurse Manager in collaboration with the Director of Clinical Services and Regulatory Affairs. This position is responsible for providing care to dialysis patients under the supervision of licensed nursing staff.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • CCHT certification required within 18 months of start of dialysis experience.
  • CPR, required.
  • Minimum 2 years previous experience in a dialysis clinical setting, required.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare dialysis equipment for treatment including ensuring all pre-procedure testing is performed prior to patient treatment
  • Assist with disinfecting process and storage of dialysis equipment post treatment process
  • Review prescribed orders to ensure machine is programmed to deliver the appropriate prescription while partnering with the assigned nurse as needed
  • Obtain patient vital signs, document in the medical record, and report findings to the assigned nurse
  • Monitor patient during treatment ensuring patient is responding appropriately to treatment and notify assigned nurse of any adverse reactions to treatment
  • Adhere to and enforce all policies and procedures as they pertain to the delivery of care, infection control, and safety
  • Collect and label specimens and ensure timely delivery to the laboratory
  • Assist with maintaining cleanliness of the department and ensure supplies are stocked
