A PCT is responsible for performing phlebotomy, EKG’s and filing. Draws blood and transports to lab; collecting and receiving in proper manner. Must demonstrate a willingness to learn. Must be able to communicate effectively with all hospital personnel and present a courteous and professional manner to the public. Must be capable of delivering appropriate care to patients from neonate through geriatric with regards to age specific considerations. Performs direct and indirect care duties under the guidance and direction of the RN and LPN. Activities of daily living; personal care needs; nutrition and fluid needs; elimination needs; and task delegated by the primary licensed nurse. Performs skilled procedures under the supervision of the licensed nurse. Indirect patient care includes, but is not limited to cleaning occupied and unoccupied patient areas and maintaining an environment that is neat and free of hazards to the patient’s wellbeing; assisting with clerical tasks as assigned. An understanding of and willingness to follow infection control and safety guidelines is mandatory.
