About The Position

Sentara Albemarle Medical Center is hiring a flexi/PRN Patient Care Tech (PCT) for the IMC/SDU 3-South to work on an as needed basis. Flexi/PRN, Nights Patient Care Technicians are unlicensed staff members who are accountable to, and work under the direct supervision of a professional nurse to implement delegated aspects of nursing care. Provide patient care, support the admissions and discharge process, and comply with patient safety practices under the direction of the professional nurse. Observe patients' physical, mental, and emotional conditions and report any change to the nursing. Our 24-bed Intermediate Care Unit provides a dynamic and supportive environment for nurses who thrive in a fast-paced setting that bridges critical and acute care. We care for patients with complex medical needs requiring close monitoring and specialized interventions, while fostering strong interdisciplinary collaboration and professional growth. Join a team where clinical excellence, compassion, and teamwork are at the heart of everything we do. Primary diagnosis includes CHF, COPD, MI, CKD, AKD, and Sepsis. We do several drips on our unit which include dobutamine, milrinone, dopamine, Lasix, heparin and nitroglycerin.

Requirements

  • HS - High School Grad or Equivalent
  • One of the following programs is acceptable for education: Sentara Care Partner Certification Program, successful completion of the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA), National Patient Care Technician (NCPCT), completion of US Navy Hospital Corps School, Emergency Services to include EMR, EMS, EMT, AEMT and Paramedic, or current student enrolled in a clinical program having completed at least one semester of a (RN, LPN, RT or PT) or current work experience within last three years as a PCT or Nursing Assistant.
  • AHA BLS certification within 90 days of hire.

  • One year of health care experience preferred.
