About The Position

The position is for a Per Diem Patient Care Tech located in Glenview/Highland Park, IL. The role requires working under the supervision of a Registered Nurse to deliver patient care on the Antepartum unit. Responsibilities include assisting with vital signs, EKGs, bladder ultrasounds, and other patient care tasks. The position requires a commitment level of 32 to 144 hours over a 6-week schedule, depending on the level of commitment chosen. The hours of work are from 2300 to 0730, and travel is required between Glenview and Highland Park Hospital.

Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited certified nursing assistant (CNA) training course preferred.
  • Completion of at least one nursing clinical rotation in medical or surgical nursing preferred.
  • Current BLS certification for the Healthcare Provider issued by American Heart Association.
  • Inpatient PCT experience.

  • Inpatient PCT medical/surgical experience.

Responsibilities

  • Work under the supervision of a RN to deliver patient care on the Antepartum unit.
  • Assist with Vital Signs, 12-Lead EKG, Bladder Ultrasound, Foley catheter and IV adapter removal, sterile specimen collection, bathing, ambulating, turning, hourly rounding, blood glucose, feeding, admitting patients to room, preparing patients for discharge, and any other duties delegated by the Registered Nurse.
  • Assist with the implementation of a patient specific care plan.
  • Participate in other activities essential to the functioning of the patient care unit.
  • Contribute positively to safety outcomes and promote high quality patient experience.
  • Utilize appropriate patient movement equipment for patient-lifting and transfers when the transfer is a non-emergency situation.
  • Assist with lifting up to 50 pounds in urgent events.
