About The Position

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) role at Memorial Regional Medical Center focuses on the Orthopedics unit, which specializes in the care of disorders of the bones, muscles, tendons, and ligaments. The PCT will work night shifts from 7pm to 7am, three 12-hour shifts per week, totaling 36 hours weekly. Preference is given to candidates with an ortho and/or med/surg background.

Requirements

• BLS Basic Life Support (preferred upon hire, must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care).
• Successful completion of nursing aide training program OR successful passing of STNA State Tested Nurse Aide OR CNA Certified Nurse Aide OR completion of a nursing program with one clinical nursing course and one clinical rotation OR 1 year of relevant experience in a clinical setting.

Nice To Haves

• Recent experience in acute care, physician's office, home health/hospice, or long-term care facility, with a preference for the setting in which they are applying (preferred, not required).
• EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) training (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Provides basic patient care including care and comfort, vital sign measurement, personal care and hygiene, and assists with mobility.
• Acts as a liaison between patient and nurse to report changes and/or concerns.
• Provides high-level customer service to all patients, their families, visitors, and employees.
• Documents patient care accurately, precisely, and timely when applicable.
• Participates in hand-off/report of pertinent information regarding patient and departmental needs upon arrival and when leaving.
• Performs delegated tasks once competency has been validated.
• Mobilizes patients using therapeutic transfer techniques to foster independence and safety.
• Encourages patients to complete tasks as independently as possible.
• Individualizes care based on patient's interests and hobbies.
