About The Position

The Patient Care Tech (PCT) position is located in the Medical 5 Telemetry unit at MelroseWakefield Hospital, which primarily cares for adult acute care patients with a variety of diagnoses and co-morbidities. Common conditions include cardiac issues, pneumonia, renal failure, COPD, CHF, atrial fibrillation, GI bleed, and syncope. The unit also accommodates post-surgical patients, including those who have undergone pacemaker placements and Cardiac Cath/PCI procedures. This 39-bed Med Surg/Tele Unit emphasizes staff involvement in shared governance and professional growth, and has been recognized as the Daisy Team of the Year. The team consists of both new graduates and experienced nurses who collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide high-quality care.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Successful completion of a certified patient care/clinical associate/certified nursing assistant or equivalent course.
• Current BLS certification required.
• 2-4 years of experience in healthcare and nursing services preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Ability to work with detailed, confidential material.
• Computer experience required.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in telemetry monitoring.
• Previous experience in a hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under the supervision of nursing staff.
• Monitor patients' vital signs and report any changes to the nursing staff.
• Assist patients with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, and feeding.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients.
• Document patient care activities accurately and timely in the medical record.
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to patient care planning.
