About The Position

The Patient Care Tech (PCT) position at Texas Health Arlington Memorial is a full-time role in a fast-paced unit, specifically in the Ortho Neuro department. The work hours are during the night shift from 6 PM to 6 AM, requiring 36 hours per week with weekend and holiday commitments. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED).
  • Must comply with CLIA regulations regarding foreign education equivalency if applicable.
  • Current TX CNA or PCT training with NHA, NAHP, or NCCT or an accredited community college program or a THR approved program.
  • Current EMT for TX or military experience with medical training equivalent (Equivalent to EMT-B).
  • 1 year of applicable PCT experience in lieu of an active and approved certification.
  • Nursing student who has completed fundamentals or foreign nurse degree program.
  • Previous hospital experience is preferred.
  • BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly.
  • CPI - Crisis Prevention and Intervention Training within 60 days of hire required.

Responsibilities

  • Provides assistance to patients according to the plan of care.
  • Collects patient data, identifies and reports significant findings to the nurse.
  • Assists in admission, transfer, and discharge processes.
  • Provides and revises patient activities of daily living based on patient/family preferences.
  • Performs technical procedures safely and proficiently.
  • Takes action to reduce or eliminate patient risk.
  • Enters orders into computer or manual systems if applicable.
  • Documents accurately and appropriately.
  • In collaboration with the nurse, adapts care to reflect the patient population.
  • Incorporates cultural/religious needs and beliefs into the delivery of care.
  • Keeps the patient environment clean and maintains a safe environment.
  • Anticipates patient/family and visitor needs and takes action to meet those needs.
