About The Position

This fast-paced Emergency Department unit is seeking a top-skilled Patient Care Tech (PCT). The unit offers self-scheduling to support work/life balance, along with opportunities for educational and career growth. The professional PCT is expected to understand basic human needs and recognize patient affiliations. Texas Health HEB is a 252-bed, acute-care, full-service hospital that has served the community since 1973, located in the DFW mid-cities area. It provides convenient care to residents of Hurst, Euless, Bedford, and surrounding communities. Specialties include women’s services, perioperative services, heart and vascular care, acute care/med surg, intermediate care/step-down, oncology, and emergency medicine. Additional specialties include nuclear medicine, interventional radiology, respiratory therapy, and neuroscience care, including neurosurgery and stroke. Texas Health HEB is ANCC Magnet Designated, Joint Commission-certified in Chest Pain (PHAC), a Primary Stroke Center, a Level III Trauma Center, Level II NICU, and Level III for maternal care. It is a top choice in North Texas for emergency services, surgical services, women’s health, cardiac care, and more.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)
• CLIAFE - Must comply with CLIA regulations regarding foreign education equivalency required, if applicable.
• Current TX CNA or PCT training with NHA, NAHP or NCCT or an accredited community college program or a THR approved program or Current EMT for TX or Military experience with medical training equivalent (Equivalent to EMT-B) or Nursing student who has completed fundamentals or foreign nurse degree program.
• 1 year of applicable PCT experience in lieu of an active and approved certification
• BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly
• CPI - Crisis Prevention and Intervention Training within 60 days of hire required.

Nice To Haves

• Previous wound care experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides assistance to patient according to plan of care.
• Collects patient data, identifies and reports significant findings to nurse.
• Assists in admission/transfer/discharge.
• Provides and Revises patient activities of daily living based on patient/family preferences.
• Performs technical procedures safely and proficiently.
• Takes action to reduce or eliminate patient risk.
• Enters orders into computer or manual system if applicable.
• Documents accurately and appropriately.
• In collaboration/consultation with the nurse, adapts care to reflect patient population.
• In collaboration/consultation with nurse, incorporates cultural/religious needs and beliefs into delivery of care.
• Keeps patient environment clean and maintains safe environment.
• Anticipates patient/family and visitor needs and takes action to meet those needs and rounds as appropriate
