About The Position

The Patient Care Tech (PCT) Apprentice position at Texas Health Rockwall is designed for individuals who are passionate about healthcare and eager to learn while earning. This full-time role involves working in a fast-paced Medical Surgical Unit, where the apprentice will gain hands-on experience and training. The position requires attendance in a 4-week Apprentice Program, which is essential for transitioning into a Patient Care Tech role upon successful completion. The work schedule consists of three 12-hour variable day shifts per week, with every other weekend and holiday requirements. The unit emphasizes self-scheduling to promote work/life balance and offers opportunities for educational and career growth.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required prior to providing independent patient care.
  • Possess organizational skills to function in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Demonstrate positive interpersonal skills and good verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Complete a PCT apprenticeship program covering basic patient care skills, patient rights, communication, safety, observation, and reporting.
  • Assist patients in maintaining basic comfort and safety.
  • Deliver high-quality patient care through nursing education, research, and innovations in nursing practice.
