About The Position

The Emergency Department Technician performs a variety of direct patient care procedures assisting the professional staff, physicians, and/or department leadership to provide mission-driven patient centered care focused on meeting the needs of our patients. · Meets the comfort and hygiene needs of the patient by providing care services. Distributes meals and beverages, takes vital signs, collects lab specimens. · Assists with completion of patient testing and treatment procedures, sets up and primes IV tubing, 12-lead ECG, simple tracheostomy suctioning and care, changes dressings, obtains blood specimens utilizing appropriate skin puncture and venipuncture techniques, performs cardiopulmonary resuscitation, obtains wound and throat cultures. · Assists physician and professional staff in equipment supply and set up. · Assists with ambulating patients with assistive devices such as crutches and with transfer/transport procedures. · Performs required documentation and communicates in a competent and effective manner to meet patient and/or family needs and regulatory requirements. · Utilizes time and resources effectively to promote quality and cost outcomes. · Other department specific duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum Education: Required: High School Diploma plus training acquired through work experience or education
  • Licensure/Certifications: Required: BLS American Heart Association
  • Other: Completion of an Illinois Department of Health program (CNA, EMT-B, EMT-P)with verification, or the ability to prove an equal or higher level of education in a nursing focused program.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum Experience: Preferred: 1-2 years of previous job-related experience
  • Preferred: Licensed EMT Paramedic State of Illinois Licensed EMT-Basic and/or Paramedic State of Illinois
