Clinical Technicians at The Johns Hopkins Hospital have the opportunity to provide highly skilled and compassionate patient- and family-centered care as contributing members of the healthcare team. Ongoing education is provided to all Clinical Technicians to ensure that all techs perform at the highest level of their certification and scope of practice. During your first year, you will have the opportunity to attend eight days of training off the unit, which provide interactive learning activities to support your personal and professional development. Our Pediatric Oncology Inpatient Unit is a combination of Medical Oncology and Stem cell transplant patients. This patient population includes patients with Leukemia (ALL and AML), Brain tumors, Sarcomas (Rhabdomyosarcoma, Osteosarcoma, Ewing’s Sarcoma), neuroblastoma, and Wilms Tumor. The unit’s Stem Cell transplant patients include patients being treated for malignancies and or non-malignant diseases (such as Sickle Cell Disease, Aplastic Anemia, Thalessemia, SCID). The staff cares for patients of various ages (birth to 26 years of age).
