The Patient Care Technician is responsible for: Under the supervision of a nurse, and taking into consideration the developmental needs of the patient, performs routine patient activities and delegated patient care procedures of a specialized and technical nature as competency documentation designates. Assist the patient with changing/dressing Transports the patient by stretcher, bed, or wheelchair (this is a large part of the job) Identifies abnormal findings that could adversely affect surgical and patient outcomes, including abnormal vital signs, Accucheck results, lab, EKG, and CXR results Report all abnormal findings to the appropriate nursing staff• Escorts patients to holding rooms• Assists with patient changing, and removal of belongings such as jewelry, dentures, contact lenses, etc. Verifies patient information Orients patients and families to the environment Obtains vital signs
