About The Position
Emory University Hospital is seeking a Patient Care Technician responsible for performing assigned patient care and observation duties under the direction of a Registered Nurse and/or LPN. This role involves ensuring patient safety, maintaining hospital and unit-specific competencies, and promoting a supportive and healing environment to enhance customer and staff satisfaction. Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent
- BLS required

Responsibilities
- Performs assigned patient care and observation duties under the direction of a Registered Nurse and/or LPN
- Cleans the patient's room
- Operates various clinical equipment
- Helps with emergencies
- Assists with patient procedures
- Collects and transports patient specimens and completes applicable forms
- Communicates with patients, families and members of the patient care team
- Maintains hospital and unit-specific competencies
- Promotes a supportive and healing environment so that customer and staff satisfaction are enhanced
- Ensures that prescribed measures related to hygiene, comfort, and rest are provided
- Complies with Standard Precautions guidelines, Infection Control procedures, and safety standards to maintain and promote a clean and healthy work environment
- Assists in the use of bag-valve-mask device, anti-embolism stockings, pneumatic compression stockings, oxygen, suction equipment, incentive spirometer, emergency cart and bedside glucose monitoring machine
- Operates converter chair, lifts, scales, beds, stretchers, wheelchairs, non-invasive BP monitors, automatic thermometer, sphygmomanometer, pulse oximeter, and computers
- Records patient intake and output
