About The Position

Emory University Hospital is seeking a Patient Care Technician responsible for performing assigned patient care and observation duties under the direction of a Registered Nurse and/or LPN. This role involves ensuring patient safety, maintaining hospital and unit-specific competencies, and promoting a supportive and healing environment to enhance customer and staff satisfaction. Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent
  • BLS required

Responsibilities

  • Performs assigned patient care and observation duties under the direction of a Registered Nurse and/or LPN
  • Cleans the patient's room
  • Operates various clinical equipment
  • Helps with emergencies
  • Assists with patient procedures
  • Collects and transports patient specimens and completes applicable forms
  • Communicates with patients, families and members of the patient care team
  • Maintains hospital and unit-specific competencies
  • Promotes a supportive and healing environment so that customer and staff satisfaction are enhanced
  • Ensures that prescribed measures related to hygiene, comfort, and rest are provided
  • Complies with Standard Precautions guidelines, Infection Control procedures, and safety standards to maintain and promote a clean and healthy work environment
  • Assists in the use of bag-valve-mask device, anti-embolism stockings, pneumatic compression stockings, oxygen, suction equipment, incentive spirometer, emergency cart and bedside glucose monitoring machine
  • Operates converter chair, lifts, scales, beds, stretchers, wheelchairs, non-invasive BP monitors, automatic thermometer, sphygmomanometer, pulse oximeter, and computers
  • Records patient intake and output
