About The Position

The Patient Care Technician role at Gottlieb, Loyola, and MacNeal involves providing direct patient care to support the unit manager, professional staff, and physicians. Requirements

• High School Diploma preferred, with training acquired through work experience or education.
• Less than one year of previous job-related experience required; 1-2 years preferred.
• Certified Nurse Assistant certification required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through AHA required.
• Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of start.
• Completion of a Nursing Assistant Program with placement on the Illinois Department of Health Nurse Aide Registry or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Perform direct patient care procedures to assist the unit manager and professional staff.
• Meet the comfort and hygiene needs of patients.
• Assist with patient testing and treatment procedures, including setting up IV tubing and performing simple tracheostomy suctioning.
• Change dressings and perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
• Obtain wound and throat cultures as needed.
• Assist physicians and staff with equipment supply and setup.
• Help ambulate patients using assistive devices and assist with transfer/transport procedures.
• Document patient care activities and communicate effectively with patients and families.
