The Patient Care Technician functions as a clinical support partner, assisting the patient care team by performing various tasks and procedures as instructed by a licensed professional. Additionally, the Patient Care Technician may assume the responsibilities of a Health Unit Coordinator. This is a part-time day shift position on a 20-bed specialty unit that cares for patients with strokes, spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries, neurological, orthopedic, multiple trauma, and other diagnoses. The program is CARF (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) certified, adhering to standards that promote quality, value, and optimal outcomes. The unit is committed to Quality Assurance, Continuous Improvement, and Operational Efficiency. Techs typically care for 7 patients on days and evenings, increasing to 10-12 patients at 9 PM. Patients undergo 3 hours of therapy daily following a structured schedule. The team works closely with therapists (PT, OT, ST), nurses, and techs to develop goals and a plan of care for patient discharge home with family. Patients typically stay for 2-4 weeks.
