About The Position

The Patient Care Tech in General Surgery at The George Washington University Hospital is a full-time position with a night schedule from 7 PM to 7 AM. The role involves performing direct patient care tasks under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and executing various tasks as designated by competency documentation. The position is focused on providing direct patient care limited to non-invasive procedures, unless the individual is specifically certified in phlebotomy.

Requirements

  • High School diploma.
  • At least six months of recent hospital, long-term care, or medical work experience.
  • Completion of Certified Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant Course, or two years of nursing school.
  • Fundamental computer skills and keyboard familiarity.
  • Fluency in speaking and writing English.
  • Demonstrated communication, organization, and critical thinking skills.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.

Responsibilities

  • Perform direct patient care tasks under the direction of the Registered Nurse.
  • Execute various tasks as competency documentation designates.
  • Provide direct patient care limited to non-invasive procedures.
