About The Position

The Patient Care Tech Associate (Nights) role involves providing direct patient care and technical support under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. The position requires performing various clinical tasks, including obtaining vital signs, assisting with diagnostic procedures, and maintaining specialized clinical equipment. The associate will also contribute to improving patient care activities and ensuring a high standard of service delivery.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • 6 months experience in skilled long-term facility/acute care hospital, or enrolled in a nursing program with completed fundamentals of nursing course, or 1 year experience in a short-term care facility, or completion of a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) program.
  • Ability to perform a wide range of physical activities, including moving and positioning patients.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of a Certified Nurse Aide or Certified Medical Assistant program.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Coursework in an Allied Health field.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain vital signs, temperature, height/length, weight, oxygen saturation, and pain scores; report abnormal values to RN.
  • Respond to monitor alarms and utilize palpation/auscultation to determine heart rate and blood pressure.
  • Observe, monitor, and report the physical condition of assigned patients.
  • Assist physician/provider during diagnostic procedures and support patients before and during procedures.
  • Perform point of care testing and maintain equipment and supplies.
  • Collect blood specimens and other laboratory specimens, including urine and stool.
  • Assist patients with personal hygiene and daily living activities.
  • Perform tube feedings and urinary catheterizations as directed by RN.
  • Administer cleansing enemas and apply external fecal incontinence device bags.
  • Cleanse and redress non-sterile wounds and assist with complex dressing changes.
  • Assist with tracheostomy care and suctioning for intubated patients.
  • Respond to call lights and alarms, and assist with admissions, discharges, and transfers.
  • Stock supplies and maintain orderliness of patient care spaces.
