About The Position

The Patient Care Tech (PCT) Apprentice program at Texas Health Rockwall offers a pathway to a healthcare career, focusing on providing an excellent patient care experience. Apprentices will "learn while you earn" through a 4-week intensive program, Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm, starting Monday, June 1st. Upon successful completion, trainees will transition into a full-time Patient Care Tech role on the Medical Surgical Unit. The Medical Surgical Unit is a fast-paced, high-volume department that offers self-scheduling for work/life balance, opportunities for educational and career growth, a robust Unit Based Council (UBC), and an engaged leadership team. Texas Health Hospital Rockwall is an ANCC Pathway to Excellence® facility with 105 inpatient beds and various expanded service lines, serving Rockwall, Kaufman, Hunt, and surrounding counties for over 15 years. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required prior to providing independent patient care and must be maintained quarterly
  • Possesses organizational skills to function in a fast-paced work environment
  • Positive interpersonal skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Learn while you earn to create a pathway towards a career in healthcare to provide an excellent patient care experience
  • Complete a PCT apprenticeship program
  • Curriculum to include: Basic patient care skills
  • Curriculum to include: Patient rights, communication, safety, observation, and reporting
  • Curriculum to include: Assisting patients in maintaining basic comfort and safety
