About The Position

Under the supervision of the Health Center Administrator, the Patient Care Supervisor oversees Medical Assistants and manages day-to-day clinical operations related to patient care. This role ensures high standards of patient safety, quality care delivery, and positive patient outcomes. The Patient Care Supervisor works collaboratively with the Patient Experience Supervisor and other members of the healthcare team to identify, prioritize, and implement clinical improvement strategies. This position supports staff development, promotes retention through mentorship and skill-building, and helps maintain efficient, patient-centered systems of care.

Requirements

  • Certified or Registered Medical Assistant with 3–5 years of experience OR
  • Medical Assistant with at least 2 years of supervisory experience
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Current auto insurance
  • Ability to work late evening hours
  • Ability to work some weekends and holidays
  • Ability to travel and work at other clinic locations as needed

Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional internal and external customer service utilizing the AIDET model to exceed patient expectations.
  • Supervise and oversee all essential duties of Medical Assistants.
  • Ensure all walk-in patients are screened appropriately and communicate clinical information to the RN Health Center Administrator or Provider for follow-up.
  • Assist with patient registration and check-out as needed.
  • Develop and manage daily duty rosters for clinical staff assignments (administrative tasks, phone messages, patient cases, pharmacy, hospital, and physician inquiries).
  • Model and enforce standard precautions, including proper hand hygiene, medication administration, and procedural assistance.
  • Ensure accurate and current pharmacological practices in medication administration.
  • Collaborate with the Patient Experience Supervisor to ensure all claims are closed and submitted daily; complete follow-up on open claims.
  • Partner with the Patient Experience Supervisor to maintain adequate clinic supplies and submit orders as needed.
  • Notify the Patient Experience Supervisor of equipment needs, repairs, and inspections to coordinate vendor service.
  • Complete onboarding checklists for newly hired Medical Assistants within 90 days and conduct annual competency reviews.
  • Participate in real-time patient schedule management to ensure appropriate patient access.
  • Assist in completing and submitting monthly Joint Commission walk-through documentation.
  • Communicate policy and procedural updates to staff and support on-site implementation.
  • Attend required trainings and complete all Core Curriculum requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
