About The Position

The Patient Care Supervisor at McLeod Health is responsible for overseeing patient care management duties, ensuring an organized workflow and open communication. This includes the development and evaluation of performance improvement and staffing patterns during the assigned shift. The supervisor ensures compliance with established unit standards, policies, and specific standards of care, while coordinating patient care activities for the assigned shift. Additionally, the role involves managing employee-related complaints, issues, and concerns to optimize the work environment. The supervisor assesses the needs of patients based on data collected through history, observation, physical examination, and analysis of diagnostic data, providing appropriate age-specific nursing interventions consistent with the plan of care and standards of practice. The position also emphasizes continued professional growth through goal setting, participation in educational offerings, and contributions to departmental growth and performance through hospital-system initiatives that cultivate nursing-involved Evidence Based Practices. The supervisor fosters an environment of caring, compassion, and respect for patients, families, and visitors, while promoting interdepartmental and collaborative relationships. Responsibilities also include supervising the use of appropriate health and safety equipment to protect both patients and staff, managing the fiscal responsibility of the unit, and utilizing standard work in relation to Nursing Sensitive Quality Indicators. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience.
  • Advanced Resuscitative Certification appropriate to patient population required within 6 months of hire.
