Summary Collaborates with all clinical departments using virtual care (a/k/a telehealth) and designated staff at the patient's site for the purpose of facilitating and assisting with telehealth encounters between patients and providers. This position exists to support the treatment of a patient locally and to reduce interfacility transfers by allowing specialists and other providers to virtually care for patients at a distance. Provides direct patient care, including treatments and diagnostic studies as directed by a Registered Nurse. Provides other support services, dictated by patient needs, as a care delivery team member. Utilizes effective and appropriate communication styles. Supports unit and hospital goals and objectives.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Six months recent experience in direct provision of patient care activities, including treatments and/or diagnostic studies or upon hire, must successfully complete LVHN's inexperienced technical partner course.
  • Ability to follow direction and provide accurate reports.
  • Attainment and maintenance of unit-specific competencies.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize assignments in the delivery of patient care.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • BLS - Basic Life Support AHA - American Heart Association within 180 Days

Responsibilities

  • Under the direction of the distant provider, facilitates a clinical exam, including the utilization of any required peripheral devices (e.g., electronic stethoscope), other technology (e.g., video conferencing equipment) and software (e.g., Epic, Vidyo, etc) ensuring comprehensive virtual care encounter is conducted.
  • Serves as a liaison between unit/practice staff at the patient's location and providers at a distant site to coordinate the timely scheduling of virtual care encounters.
  • Provides care to and related activities for designated patients using a patient/family centered approach and in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Employs astute observational skills and properly communicates findings, changes, or problems to the RN.
  • Uses effective and appropriate verbal and non-verbal communication styles with patients, significant others, visitors, staff, and professional colleagues.
  • Functions as a department team member to support unit-based patient experience goals as well as hospital goals and objectives.
  • Demonstrates team building skills by participating in the orientation of new staff, as assigned.
  • Performs validated technical skills based upon clinical specialty and unit practice.
  • Utilizes technology and incorporates technology to optimize alternative modes of care delivery.
  • Completes quality control checks on designated unit equipment, if applicable.
  • Conducts patient rounds as assigned, anticipates patient needs, and answers/responds to patient call light or pages promptly.
