About The Position

The Patient Care Partner at Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN) is responsible for providing direct patient care and support services as part of a care delivery team. This role emphasizes a patient/family-centered approach, effective communication, and teamwork to enhance patient experiences and meet hospital goals. The position requires a commitment to quality care and the ability to adapt to the needs of patients and the healthcare environment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Six months recent experience in direct patient care activities, including treatments and/or diagnostic studies, or successful completion of LVHN's inexperienced technical partner course upon hire.
  • Ability to follow direction and provide accurate reports.
  • Attainment and maintenance of unit-specific competencies.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize assignments in the delivery of patient care.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification within 180 days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Provides care to designated patients using a patient/family centered approach in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Employs observational skills to communicate findings, changes, or problems to the Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Uses effective verbal and non-verbal communication styles with patients, families, and colleagues.
  • Functions as a team member to support unit-based patient experience goals and hospital objectives.
  • Participates in the orientation of new staff as assigned, demonstrating team building skills.
  • Performs validated technical skills based on clinical specialty and unit practice.
  • Utilizes technology to optimize alternative modes of care delivery.
  • Completes quality control checks on designated unit equipment, if applicable.
  • Conducts patient rounds, anticipates patient needs, and responds promptly to patient call lights or pages.
