About The Position

The Patient Care Partner role at Lehigh Valley Health Network involves providing direct patient care and support services in a pediatric setting. The role is integral to the care delivery team, focusing on patient-centered approaches and collaboration with registered nurses and other healthcare professionals.

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED
• Six months recent experience in direct provision of patient care activities, including treatments and/or diagnostic studies, or completion of LVHN's inexperienced technical partner course upon hire.
• Ability to follow direction and provide accurate reports.
• Attainment and maintenance of unit-specific competencies.
• Ability to organize and prioritize assignments in the delivery of patient care.
• Basic computer skills.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification within 180 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provides care to designated patients using a patient/family centered approach in accordance with established policies and procedures.
• Employs observational skills to communicate findings, changes, or problems to the RN.
• Uses effective verbal and non-verbal communication styles with patients, families, and staff.
• Functions as a team member to support unit-based patient experience goals and hospital objectives.
• Participates in the orientation of new staff as assigned.
• Performs validated technical skills based on clinical specialty and unit practice.
• Utilizes technology to optimize alternative modes of care delivery.
• Completes quality control checks on designated unit equipment, if applicable.
• Conducts patient rounds, anticipates patient needs, and responds promptly to patient call lights or pages.
