The G81 unit on Cleveland Clinic Main Campus presents a unique opportunity to caregivers, as the unit is both a specialty surgical step-down unit and a general medical unit. G81 encompasses an 8-bed ENT/Plastics specialty step-down unit and a 24-bed unit with a specialty focus in Internal Medicine. The patients we see present a wide variety of acute and chronic medical conditions, such as head and neck cancer, surgical flaps and grafts, renal failure, diabetes, hypertension, pneumonia and sepsis. Many of our patients have complex multi-system failure issues. A caregiver in this position works days, from 7:00am – 7:30pm.
Requirements
- A high school diploma or GED
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
- Military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) will be considered

- State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA)
Responsibilities
- Provide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN.
- Patient care may include vital signs, weight, assisting patients with personal care and activities of daily living, patient transfers/transport, pulse oximetry, point of care testing, dressing changes, applying external monitoring devices and removing urinary Foley catheter.
- Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to an RN.
- Assist with keeping patients’ rooms clean and orderly.
